Christina Rae Butler is an esteemed Preservationist and Historian at Johnson & Wilson Real Estate Company, where she leads the company's efforts in historic preservation consulting. With over twenty years of experience, Christina holds a B.A. in Historic Preservation and an M.A. in American History. Her role is pivotal in managing projects that require deep understanding and expertise in historic property research, National Register nominations, preservation and building maintenance plans and more.
Christina's academic experience includes teaching courses such as Building Pathology, Preservation Project Planning, Researching Historic Properties, Vernacular Architecture, and Introduction to Historic Preservation. These courses reflect her broad areas of interest, which encompass urban history, cultural landscapes, the history of public works and technology, and historic building materials and methodologies. This extensive knowledge base enhances her capacity to conduct in-depth cultural resource management reports, land use histories, and assist clients with preservation permitting and care for their historic properties.

Her other works include "Italians in the Lowcountry" for the Dante Alighieri Society, and collaborations with the Historic Charleston Foundation and Historic Ansonborough Neighborhood Association to produce "Ansonborough: Birth and Rebirth." Additionally, she contributes to publications such as Kiawah Legends and Charleston Empire Properties.
