If you’re around the Goose Creek area this Saturday, be sure to stop by the Lowcountry Foodtruck Festival between 11am and 5:30pm. Featuring fifteen local food trucks, from savory to sweet and everything in between, this outdoor event is free to attend. Participating food trucks include bits-n-bytes, Miss Katie’s Sweets, Lola’s Lumpia, Kona Ice, The Misfit Chef, AndLobster, Dashi, and others. DJ Sly One will spin music throughout the afternoon. Covid-19 safety policies and procedures will also be implemented for everyone’s safety.
The Taste of Folly begins this weekend at Folly Beach and runs through February 7th. Purchase a $5 Taste of Folly Virtual Passport for $5 at the link above, then spend 17 days eating your way through Folly’s best restaurants. You’ll get a stamp in your passport each time you visit one of the participating spots. At the end of the event, participants will be entered to win prizes like Folly hotel/inn stays, golf cart rentals, beach setups, and gift cards. Folly restaurants will also be competing for prizes, so be sure to vote for your favorites to help them out! Be sure to catch the Server Olympics and Oyster Shucking Contest on Saturday as part of the Taste of Folly too.
If you’re a lover of all things vintage, retro, and antique, check out the Pickers Hullabaloo Flea Market this Saturday. Located at The French Eclectic Warehouse in North Charleston (off Dorchester Rd. between I-26 and 526), the market will be open from 11am until 4pm. This flea market is sure to provide an afternoon of treasure hunting, good eats, libations, and live music. Shop from Charleston’s leading vintage and antique dealers, who offer an eclectic selection of furniture, housewares, nostalgic collectibles, rugs, jewelry, vintage clothing, and more. Grab some pizza from First Name Basis Pizza and a beverage from Chug-a-Lug Wagon, and make a day of it. Masks are required at this event.
Head to the North Charleston Coliseum this weekend for Disney on Ice: Dream Big! Join Moana, Aladdin, Miguel from Coco, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and some of your favorite Disney Princesses at one of seven offered showings of Dream Big from Friday through Sunday evening. Covid-19 safety regulations include “pod”-style seating with physical distancing between “pods,” extra sanitation, and the requirement of face coverings for anyone over the age of two (except while actively eating or drinking). Palmetto Islands County Park in Mount Pleasant is hosting a Fairy House Festival on Saturday from 10am until 2:30pm. Children of all ages are invited to dress in their best fairy and gnome costumes and build their very own fairy houses using materials found in nature. Your $5 registration fee includes four guests in a 10’x10’ plot to allow for physical distancing. Park admission is not included in registration. Attendees will check in and get their building permit and guidance, then begin gathering materials and creating their fairy or gnome home. There will also be a nature walk and scavenger hunt, and Charleston County Public Library will also be onsite for some socially distanced storytelling. Food truck fare from Waffle Connection and the Holy City Cupcakes will be on hand with food available for purchase. Advance registration and masks are required.
