Get on your shaggin’ shoes and get out to Folly Beach Pier Friday evening for this month’s Moonlight Mixer. DJ Jim Bowers will spin the hottest oldies and beach music tunes as you dance the night away. Get your tickets for $10 at the gate or by calling (843) 795-4386. Children age three and under get in free. Beverages will be available for purchase. Food and snacks will be available for purchase at Pier 101 restaurant and the Gangplank Gift and Tackle Shop as well. Outside alcohol, food, and coolers are prohibited. Smoking is not allowed within the event area. No pets allowed.
If you’re more interested in a relaxing movie night, Waterfront Music & Movies might be exactly where you belong this Friday evening. Bring your blankets and chairs to Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park and sit back to watch the sunset to the sounds of local musicians Chris Boone Music. At sunset (approximately 8:30pm), celebrate the 35th anniversary of Footloose with the beautiful Ravenel Bridge and Charleston Harbor as a backdrop. This week’s event includes a special birthday celebration for the park’s 10-year anniversary of opening! Music and food sales, provided by Palmetto Lunch Box and Mac Daddy food trucks, begin at 6pm. Concessions will also be available for purchase from Ben & Jerry’s, T&T Kettle Korn, and King of Pops.
Join Summerville nonprofit organizations Lowcountry Youth Services, We-R-1, Summerville/North Area Jewish Community Center, and the Community Resource Center along with community partners this Saturday for the 4th annual Summerville CommUNITY Back to School Bash at Doty Field. This extravaganza takes place from 12pm until 6pm on August 17th and includes food, jump castles, free school supplies (while they last), and many other resources available to the community. Please register ahead of time to make sure you get free school supplies and a meal, which includes one hot dog, one bag of chips, and a bottle of water. Children must be present to get their free supplies.
Head on down to “The Joe” this Saturday for the 17th Annual Ballpark Festival of Beers, presented by Kickin’ Chicken! Sample over a hundred American and international ales, stouts, lagers, pilsners, and specialty brews at Joe Riley Park. The first 2,500 people through the gates will receive a commemorative sampling glass. 18 sampling tickets are included in the admission price. Water will be available to clean glasses between samplings. This event is for adults age 21 and up only. No dogs allowed, and no refunds will be given, as this is a rain or shine event. Get your tickets at any Kickin’ Chicken restaurant or at the RiverDogs Box Office. VIP tickets are also available at the box office or online and include early entry, 25 sampling tickets, and access to a VIP lounge with light snacks and refreshments.
